Electrical Power Design and Ussage

An electrical contractor is not an electrical designer.

Power for the endless array of electrical devices in today's homes needs the special attention that Clear Lighting and Electrical Design provides. Our through understanding of power wiring, main service equipment and specialty systems will satisfy your critical demands. Having a comprehensive design for your electrical requirements will return cost benefits to you for the entire life of the home. We will guide you through planning any of the following power sources and systems required for your project.

Capabilities

Home Electrical Design – After the many years as we have been in this business, we have seen the worst and the best in home electrical design.  We have kept and incorporated the best, and insured we never fall into the traps of the worst.  It is the simple, inexpensive tips and years of practical experience  that can make the biggest difference.  The National Electric Code is written to insure that homes are wired properly to protect the safety of the people that live there.  But that is only the beginning.  There are numerous ways that you can improve the safety, livability, and long term cost of your electric needs with a properly designed electrical system for your home.  We will take you through the process step by step to insure it is done correctly and addresses all your needs.  And when you have a major design requirement, or just want your plan reviewed by an electrical engineer, we have one available for consultation and plan review.

Utility Power Purchasing power from the local "electric company” may be done in several ways that will benefit you.  Let us show you how.   Do you know how many different rates and rate structures your power company offers?  Are you getting the best rate options?  That is one of the items we review on every project.  We will insure our clients are getting the most for their money spent on electricity.

Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) A UPS provides instant switching for critical loads, such as computers, to a battery backup, avoiding loss of data, or control of home systems.  With today's emergence and expansion of electronics, even to such items as computers which control kitchen appliances, it is imperative that a complete review of electrical needs for your home include an analysis and decision whether or not to incorporate a UPS system.  A UPS can protect those costly electronic devices, and either keep them running when power goes out, or turn them off gracefully before turning itself off.

Standby Power Systems When utility power is unavailable for several hours, or even days, a standby source, such as a generator, would automatically provide power to areas of your home, or even the entire home, allowing you to continue normal activities.  Clear Lighting and Electrical Design has designed and managed the installation of standby power systems ranging in size from the very small to large commercial systems that can run for weeks if needed.  If you live where power is not as stable as you would like, we can design a standby power system that will provide standby power to a portion of your home for a short time, or a system that supports the needs of your entire property for an extended period of time.

Alternative Primary Power If commercial power is not available where you are building, you wish to use commercial power only as a backup, or you prefer to live completely  “off the grid”, we can help you design the system that fits your needs that is stainable, renewable and creates no carbon footprint. Clear LED is always abreast of the latest technologies for alternative environmentally clean power.  If you want a wind generator, we can design and develop the specifications for it. If you want solar electric (photo-voltaic cells), we can design it.  And we are currently watching with great interest as hydrogen fuel cells begin to emerge as a new alternative source for energy needs.

Power Conditioning Power to electronic items in your home should be protected from unwanted voltage surges (spikes) and changes (drift).  We will design your system to protect your investment in sensitive electronic equipment. Do you live where lightning and power surges are a far too frequent occurrence?  We have a wide range of options for conditioning the electrical power that comes to your home, so that you have replaced your last television because of a lightning strike!

Key Benefits Clear Lighting & Electrical Design Provides

  • Basic Electricity Cost Savings - A efficiently designed electrical power system using utility power may be designed to save costs and to reduce the central power generation emissions.  We have methods of designing home power wiring to reduce electrical consumption of almost every appliance.

  • Alternative Green Sources - Solar, Water, Wind and hydrogen fuel cells provide electricity at your home.  These are referred to as "local" generation. Environmentally responsible systems to generate power may recover it's own cost in several years if it is designed and controlled correctly.  Of course, pollution free power generation preserves the environment immediately.

  • Appliance & Lighting Life Span - An improperly designed electrical power system can cut years off of the life of your appliances, and even the light bulbs in your home or business.  We will show you how and why, when you become a client of our firm.

  • Peace Of Mind - With a properly designed home electrical system, you will have the necessary power to run your home as long as you own it.  We will help you look into the crystal ball of the future to forecast any possible future power needs and address those needs now when the cost to prepare for more power is minimal.
